Bass Booster?

I have seen a lot of circuits dedicated to treble boosting, but I don't remember seeing one set up especially for bass boosting. My little Epi tube amp is pretty trebly, and it would be nice to be able to boost the bass of the amp, without really doing much else to it, and just letting the amp's tone come through. I would take it that this would be done with some sort of low pass filter. I'm wanting something like the exact opposite of a Range Master. The trebly tone it has works for a lot of things, especially when you're talking about British Invasion stuff, but you just can't darken it past a certain point. I would really rather go with an effect for this, instead of modding the amp. Right now, I can't remember if when you low pass, if you're letting the low frequencies pass through, and sending the highs to ground (sort of like near sighted and far sighted) :icon_confused: but that's what I want to do.

Hey there!
Have you taken a look at the Purple Peaker over at Homewrecker.com? http://www.home-wrecker.com./peaker.html
It looks like it's been modified to give a bass boost only, or bass & highs.

If you want to just chop ALL the highs, without messing with the lower stuff you should be able to adapt the filter section from the wacky synth at Musicfromouterspace.com. http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/YOUR_FIRST_SYNTH/YOUR_FIRST_SYNTH.html
It's a simple build & does an excellent job! (the synth part is awesome too!).

The Orange treble and bass booster. Its a rangemaster type circuit that would give you the option of boosting the bass.

Thanks for the info. I will give the Hog's Foot a try. I always thought it was basically for bass. The 3.3 uf ought to help.

Basically, any active bass tone control can be a bass booster. I "designed" one here: http://seanm.ca/stomp/

It is a bass tone control that does not cut. Replace the 50k pot + 47k resistor with a 100k pot and  you have a bass tone control with boost and cut.

Looks good SeanM. I think i'll build that one instead of the Hogs Foot, since it looks more versatile.

Actually, I lead you astray. On second thought this isn't really the equivalent to a treble booster. A treble booster boosts everything but gives extra boost to the highs and possibly some low cut. My bass booster only boosts the lows and leaves everything else alone.

To make it closer to a real treble booster, make the first 1meg resistor 100k and the second 1meg resistor a 1meg pot. The 1meg pot is now a gain control.
