hi people,
i did a vero layout for the la light (version before the vu meter with the rectifying diode arrangement)
i can´t post it because i don´t know how to (got no webspace), but anyway, i have some questions:
if i use with a wallwart exclusively (no battery), can i use 9v or does it have to be 18v ?
can i use it with indicator led if powered by wallwart (layout said with batteries would not have enough voltage swing)
i want to use it with vtl5c2, do i need resistors in front of the optical elemnt´s led ?

i know it´s a little hard without the layout, but as i said, i don´t know how to do it without url´s

cheers,

you will need a resistor in series with the LED, since LEDs dim with the current, not the voltage. otherwise it will be very abrupt responce. try a 1k and see..
..you can probably get away with two LEDs ( vtl5c2 and indicator ) even at 9volt if you put them in parrallell with separate resistors. if you did it with the opamp-ground, any voltage between 9-40volts should work, just make sure you have 20volt cap's. The responce will be better ( smother )with higher, but work well at 9volt too ( I use 9volts in the stompbox and 30volt in the rackmounted one.. http://aronnelson.com/gallery/johan/La_light_studio )

..good luck, and have fun with it...please let me know what you think when you're done.. :)

hi everybody,
it seems i can´t make it work. was searching for errors in my layout again and again, to no avail.
so maybe i overlooked some things and you can help me...what it does is that the indicator led flickers shortly, it seems like only halfwave, and the circuit goes pk-pk-pk in unison with the flashing, also the vol pot makes the circuit go completely muted if turned up above 75 percent
* i used one ne5532 and one 072 (the 072 for the selfadjusting midpoint ground), they both get the real ground on pin 4, could that be my mistake ?
