Hey Matt,

Can I talk you into sharing what you found out about your "favorite overdrive sound"?

QuoteMy FAVORITE overdrive sound is the "distortion" section of the Cort MIX-10 multieffector.    It sounds great, total rock city.

aaahem....thought you could slip that by? In this forum?
got a schematic?
;-)

You caught me.  It's a huge PCB, with everything mashed in together.  The chorus sounds like vomit, the delay isn't much more than reverb, but the compressor is real squashy and the distortion is awesome.  I'll take it apart this weekend and poke around.  No promises on a schem of the whole thing, but I MIGHT be talked into adapting the compressor and distortion parts into a new project.

You said you MIGHT (purdy pleeze) (beg, wheedle, beg)  ;)

Or was it so much more ho-hum than you had expected from the sound?

Simple stuff can sound really good sometimes - like the Dynacomp and Tubescreamer.

I just always pick up my ears when I hear someone with good ears says it is their FAVORITE overdrive sound.

Thanks!
Bart

A while back member analogguru started tracing mine from photos. Much more important things came up.

Here is a reworking of the bit you are interested in. Of course, if Gottfried objects I will remove this.

Thanks, Dan.

Do you share Matt's positive perception of the sound?

Hey!, I have one of those! Personally, I thought it sucked on all fronts, no redeeming sonic qualities. (No disresect intended) However, it is one heck of an enclosure to house several DIY pedals. Lots of room inside, predrilled and the stock stompswitches are DPDT (kind of wimpy though). I tossed in a Rangemaster, Clean Boost and a Bosstone and am quite happy with it. Not to mention it has some OK scavanagables inside.

I didn't like it either. I'll probably do like Mr.Vortex and cram fun stuff into the enclosure.
