I don't know if I got lucky or what but this was no problem, works great straight away! I used a LM741 for the op-amp though I've heard it is noisier than TL071? I may replace it. I tried both 1N914 and 1N34A for the diodes as well as one of each. The 34a's sound much 'tighter' and refined (in a good way) the 914's seemed kinda noisy but had lots of squealy harmonic tones. The trim pots were no problem the Cmos ones I set to about 30k. They don't seem to make a big difference overall, just a little louder or softer. The trim after the diodes has the most dramatic effect tonewise, and the last trim in the FET section has major control over the overall level of the pedal. I'm not sure where I'll end up with them but it seems to be mostly about trims 1 & 4. Cool pedal! Jeff

Hi,
do you like the sound?
Because I heard that the sound is not really great.
''High gain, but thats all!''

BEst regards,

Yeah, the sound is pretty good! I haven't had a chance to really crank it up with an amp yet. The effect can be varied somewhat with the first trim especially and choice of diodes. The tone control only seems to make it very tubby when turned back. It does have a lot of gain, but so do most of these multi stage fuzz gadgets. I think this may be the last distortion I build (besides my mostly complete Toneburner). I'm starting to feel like an Eskimo with 23 words for snow. Like many of you I can now distort my guitar in about 14 different ways. What are you gonna do string 'em all together? I think I'm gonna build other circuits for a while, like maybe finish my Matchless Lightning build!

hi Jeff, ;D
Thanks for your answer! Did you modify your insanity box?

I'm playing with the idea to build this box...could you send me the layout (in the right size for it), please?
Cause i can't open it on Aron's page with the ''selected schematics''!

I didn't mod it at all other than substitute a radio shack LM741 for the TL071. I'll probably switch that too next time I order parts. I don't know that I can send you a layout but I'll give it a shot. I used the file from the schematics page. I had some trouble getting it to the right size also...then I got lucky. I tried saving it to the MS paint program to resize. Pain in the ass! But next time I opened it it came up in mydocuments and when you open it for editing it came up the right size and I just printed it.  The hot tip though if you have size troubles....just print it and photo-copy it to the right size. I've been ironing on photocopies to make pc's. Let me know if you need more details. Anyway you can resize on a copier and the toner is the same as the laser printer (plus you can make it darker if needed)

Thanks a lot for the reply,
but the problem is, I can't save the picture/layout cause it's a weird format... >:(
Don't know why...

But thanks a lot!

Best regards MArkus ;D

You can open most pictures in Irfanview,if it's another format

it might open with eagle. In properties you sometimes find the real size

you just resize it in cm to fit 1/10 per hole distance.

You might PM me in German if I was not clear or missundestood your

question. ;)
