Hello all

I'm developing a project of a midi switch board (nothing fancy -  a bunch of momentary switches connected to a midi board).
This is something to be used at home, in my small home studio, by me.
There's no intent of gigging, nor to free my inner rock'n'roll beast upon it.
So I'm wondering if there's any alternative to the expensive momentary footswitches that I'll have to buy; The one's I know look exactly like the standard metal dpdt.
Is there any "Mouser catalog item" (since I'll be ordering from there) of a plastic,  nice and cheap momentary button that can be activated with my feet? Something like the one that Danelectro uses on its mini effects...
Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot!

Get yourself some of the tiny tactile switches. Then set up the mechanical action so that the foot pedal you press is stopped before it presses the switch, and then use a spring or a pad of squashable plastic foam to actually press the tactile switch.

These are about the cheapest non-surplus switches.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

You actually have several choices, all workable, depending on your budget and how much mechanical work you want to do.

--If you go the tactile switch route, you may want to use switch actuators on your chassis, my SKU # 0212. At $1.75 each, they eliminate an awful lot of work. But your positioning has to be dead-on.

--A taiwanese momentary switch, SKU 0207, is available at $4.50 each. These make your job very easy at a reasonable price, though they aren't as rugged as Carling.

--I offer the Carling 110-PM-OFF at $8.35 each, from stock.
