I know there is alot here about good Ge transistors for fuzzes, boosters, etc.  I was just thinking it might be helpful to suggest some Ge transistors to stay away from for effects.  This would be a public service type thing so that new builders wouldn't have to waste money like I did on bad sounding (or just bad) transistors.  My first suggestion would be the Phillips OC75 for the MKII.  They sound pretty good but they are a bear to work with.  The gain runs all over the place and volume goes up and down.  I got about 10 good ones out of 125.

Think we ve all been there... have a search and definately read GEOFX on this one.
Upshot is..........the numbers dont mean much.. they were largely "baked" and assembled by hand.

The solution...... build RGs gain/leakage tester or buy from smallbear/AMZ

I tried an NTE101 for Arons Hornet fuzzface and they kept blowing out really easily.
