Hi guys.
I have an Arbiter Fuzz Face (PNP Tranny/Negative ground) and a Sili-Face built and want to box them together with two tranny sets for each one.
Here are the layouts I used (like the FF's are new!)

I've had loads of fun swapping trannies in and out of both circuits and want to add a switch for each to swap out Q1 (seems to have the most effect on overall tone in my tinkering).  I read somewhere that you don't need to switch all three 'legs' of the tranny - but I can't find the article/post/layout that said so.  Am I falsely remembering, or will a DPDT work for switching trannies?

I want to box this beast up tonight...

Thanks for looking.

I believe it would be okay to keep any of the pins connected and switch the other ones, but I'd choose to leave emitter connected, as it's the closest to ground. You might have some pop issues if you're trying to switch it mid-song on stage though.

Worked great!  I used a DPDT for the Collector and Base and tied the Emitter together - now I have a 2n2222 in Q1 and can switch between a 2n2222 or 2n5088 in Q2 - VERY different fuzz sounds... now to add the same mod to my Arbiter fuzz...so much Ge so little time...

Hmm...just had another thought...I wonder what it would sound like if I put a tranny in the old Q2 spot (like a lo gain 2n3904 or something) and run it into the 2n2222 or 2n5088...I read something on this forum about stacking JFETs...

Dragonfly has a switch layout in his "The Mod Zone!" gallery. It uses all three legs however.
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith

I'd go with the Q1 emitters to ground, use a DPDT for base and collector switching.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I did the same thing with Gus Smalleys NPN boost as i couldn't decide which transistor to use, so now I can switch between a 2N2222 and a OC140 germanium. Not much difference in sound though.
