Annoying hiss in Small Clone clone?

I built a Small Clone clone that uses a quad op-amp in place of the two of the duals. I know this can create problems, but was wondering if it could be responsible for background hiss when the effect is engaged. I've actually built two versions of the the same pedal, one with carbon film resistors and one with metal films just to see if there would be a difference in the overall noise but there wasn't. Has anyone experienced background hiss with the TonePad layout or another four IC layout? Should I just forget about the current layout I'm using all together and move on to the correct one? Thanks in advance.

My SC build has background hiss too. Not a lot, just some hissssssssss.

I played around it with but in the end decided it needs a boosted input to get a better SN ratio.
I'm not sure if I'm compensating for a problem in the build but...

When I plug my guitar into the SC there is background hiss. The circuit however, sounds good.

Next I drove the SC with a clean boost. I found I could not get the SC to distort even when I gave it lots of level.
So I decided the SC has mega headroom and boosting the input signal make hiss less noticeable.

My apologies for such an unscientific test.

Now I place the SC in my chain after a booster or distortion and give it plenty of level. Works for me.
I tried the same thing with my newish Behringer Ultra Phase because it has much hiss too, but the booster increased the hiss along with the effect and made it distort and break up way before the SC did.

When I get home I'm going to try this test again.

Oh and btw, the Tonepad SC sounds very good. Thanks F.P.
