Hi there,

I finally did the above script mods to my new MXR (TW)Phase 90: except removing the R32 and adding the 1M or trimmer @ R20.

I used a switch for cutting out the R28, and another DPDT for both the C11 & C12 (pictures will be coming soon) It all works but I haven't had a chance to see much of a difference the mod makes yet. (very slight )

NOOB question is ..............the 1M trimmers you get from radio shack has three posts and the PC board accepts two, which two posts on the trimmer do you join together ?

And if anyone could tell me what I have actually done here ??? I simply followed the mod instructions but I don't know what each part changed is actually doing to the sound.

should I bother removing R32 ? what does this resister do ?

One note, though I am new and learning a lot from this site I found the hardest part in modding is not understanding the mods themselves or changing parts but DRILLING the extra holes in these dicast boxes !!!!! I HATE IT !!!! (hand drill only) but it won't stop me from continuing.

Thanks

For the trimmers, the leads are arranged in a triangle.  The top lead and either one of the base leads together will work.  Just snip off or bend the one you dont need.

not to cause confusion, but check out this link to the simple mods page on aron's site...

it's the tenth entry down... under adding a bias pot.  if i'm thinking something different than what you're talking about, sorry!  hope this helps  :)

Yes, Arons site has "To use a pot as a variable resistor, tie one of the outer lugs to the wiper (middle lug). Now connect the middle lug to one end of where the resistor was and the other unused lug to the other remaining resistor connection. "

And I've also had people tell me the same thing as RockGardens response to just choose one lug and the base and that's it, bend off the unused lug.

is there a difference ?????

Oh, and my mods worked out great. On a distorted amp setting it's hard to tell if anything is happening. But on the clean channel it is very noticable. Thanks again

The paint job will be done better but I thought I'd include a picture to show where I put the switches. Upper Left is for the R28 resister, The Middle right is (DPDT) for the C11 & C12 resistors.

Ok, now I removed the resister@R32 and added the 1M resister @ R20.  = FULL SCRIPT MOD !!!
