TBMkII Q1 Emitter

Hi,
i'm building my second TBMkII and on both it only fuzzez out huge when the emitter of Q1 is disconnected. No sound otherwise.
It's PNP neg ground. I'm happy to leave it going like this because it sounds nice (in a full on oversaturated way), but it just doesn't seem to be a normal way for it to be (considering the schematic). If i 'inject' signal after Q1 it's full on fat fuzz face type stuff, so i'd say all that is working ok, it's just disconnecting Q1 emitter... a 2SB77

   Because it is misbiased, not connected correctly,  or anything else.
  At least that's a blind guess, for a more educated one read/follow:
  "What to do when it doesn't work".
