I posted this in the beginner build forum but got no replies so I'll try here:

Question 1:
I read on one of the pages that Aron has talking about how you need to use a multimeter with trimpots, do you need to use one with regular pots?

Question 2:

How do you which order the transistor leads go in the socket, and furthermore how do you know which socket pin gets connected to the other components in the circuit. Do you just solder all the the socket pins to the board and then just connect everything up to that?  I would think not, but I have no idea. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Btw, thanks a ton for those who replied to my other topic about transistor lead length.

a multimeter is used to measure how much resistance your pot is set for.  you'd use this for trimpots especially because oftentimes you would want to set them at a specific level and leave them.  with a regular pot (volume, tone, etc.) you'd control them manually and you'd want to be able to change the levels as your needs dictate.  the multimeter measures where the pot is set at.  hope this helps a bit...

I started out with nothing... I still have most of it.
