Thanks to you guys here on the forum, the few pedals I've built have worked out well.
I really appreciate the help.   I just discovered that if I use a 9v power supply with my new Distortion + pedal,
I get a hum.  No noise with the battery and none of my other pedals have this issue.
I've kept the wiring short inside the box and figure that  something needs to be
rearranged in the off-board wiring, am I looking in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Hey man, I just fixed a couple pedals last night that had awful hums and it had entirely to do with the 9V power input jack.  I'd double check and make sure there's enough solder holding and connecting the input jack to the board.  If it's soldered on good and tight, then I'd check to make sure all the wire attachments on your board are wholly soldered and not just partially.  Even a few strands of wire missing from the connection and you can have a wicked hum.  Also make sure the contacts are clean.  Hope this helps, the distortion + is a mean machine, can't wait to mod it myself.

If you have a loud hum (about as loud as your guitar signal itself), you have a ground problem somewhere. If you have a mild hum, it's most likely your power supply isn't properly filtered and has some ripple in it.
