I built a negative ground range master incorperating an Ac176 tranny and there is no boost as such if anything its below volume on the bypassed guitar signal.
i used a 100k trim for biasing and it biases up ok within the range of the trimmer its just too quite.
Any ideas why?
What can i do about it.
Should i put a booster before it or after it?
For example an op amp booster.
The circuit sounds quite nice it just lacks boost which for a booster is not good.

I also made 2 rangemasters last week with AC128 and tried AC125s in the circuit and both sound good and have a boost to them.
Thanks for any help and advice you can give

unfortunately, there's an error / bad component somewhere...

firstly, did you hit the correct voltage tuning the resistors within the correct parameters?

always think outside the box

I guess your refering to page 4 . Tune in, Turn on about biasing the tranny then right?

I'll get back on this one. It was an operator error.
I made the circuit positive earth
DOH.

however it did allow me to trial some new transistors i picked up for a dollar a piece at my favorite and only electronics store for 100 mile and theyre GE pnps too.
I love a bargain
I must compare them to the AC128s

It worked a treat after a long night trouble shooting. It turned out when I removed the 100k pot and replaced t with a static 68k resistor.
And getting the pinout back to front on ac167s.
The AC167 sound good actually better than I thought they would.
This little project stopped me doing the off board wiring on my latest build a ts808. And uploading a mp3 of my accident while making a rat (that was another thread).
I bought  10 germanium pops today for a song. Ones I had never heard of before.
Once I've tested them on r.g kerns tester and marked them up ill decide what to do with them.
They sound good in a rangemaster too. More on that later.
Then I'll get back to the things I need to finish up
Thanks for the help guys.
