Hi all, im new here and am wondering where to buy the best (i say "best" as in most heavy duty for a good price) enlosures for pedals.

I've found some http://rswww.com/cgi-bin/bv/rswww/subRangeAction.do?catoid=-1600774990&cacheID=ukie

But i don't know wether the 2mm aluminium is heavy duty enough to be stood on time and time again.

Any ideas/opinions would be great.  ::)

I might add i live in the UK, so if you know of any shops that ship to here, post a link please. Thanks in advance. Jim

Hi namebrother!

Search for 1590B and 1590BB by Hammond, they're the default enclosures in DIY-stompboxing.

Banzai should have 'em. I think www.musikding.de does too. Both are situated in Germany but shipping within the EU is quite cheap. Make sure to order parts for several projects at a time to save on the shipping.

I bet some of the UK locals carry those boxes too.

I just reminded a shop in the UK. http://www.maplin.co.uk/

I have no personal experience with them but some say they order from there. Nor do I know if they have any Hammond enclosures. (was that a correct use of 'nor'? Propably not.)

Those Hammond boxes in the RS catalogue are plenty sturdy enough for a stomping lifetime, they probably have the full range inc our beloved 1590 series boxes and they seem quite cheap from them too - but RS might have a minimum order or high P+P rates, so check that. I haven't ordered anything from Banzai yet (planning a big order soon), you could get a load of other useful stuff from them too while you're at it, jacks and pots etc - they do good knobs too!
Maplins does the cheaper Eddystone boxes in the more or less the same sizes, but the finishing is generally lower quality and they just aren't as nice (Eddystone are a UK subsidiary of Hammond). I got a few when they were on special offer but I'm going back the real thing once they are used up.
LMB Heeger enclosures are nice, but I couldn't find a UK source for them with the whole range...

The only boxes Craplins have that are any good are the Bimboxes (pricey though). You could try Bardwell's (http://www.bardwells.co.uk/subcats.asp?catid=BOX04) - prices arent bad.

Sometimes a guy sells Evatron enclosures on ebay (cant remember his name/handle).
I bought 25 1590B-sized, shiny zinc-plated boxes for £17 inc postage.

I posted a phone number on the forum a while back where you could contact Evatron directly to get the enclosures.

The enclosures are actually factory rejects, they have slight blemishes, no PCB ribs either.

But they are 100% fine for stompbox use. I still have 2 left of a batch of 25.

Do a search for Evatron, I think the thread was entitled "cheap enclosures in UK" or something.
