Hey everyone,

I've been looking at a lot of distortion circuits, and I want to build something that is very transparent with a moderate amount of smooth overdrive (the Zen Drive sounds beautiful, but I don't want to rip off Mr. Hermida without just buying that one!)

Does anyone have any suggestions?  A lot of the sound sample links in the schematics page are bad, so I've had a hard time figuring out what to do.  I have BD-2 that I've modified, but I want something smoother yet.

Thanks,
CJD

Welcome!

A quick search for zendrive came up with this:

I'd start there, maybe combine a dist + circuit with another clipping stage with just a hint of clipping in the opamp feedback loop.

Take care,
Brian

Thanks for the response.  Guess I should have searched Zen Drive myself.  Duh...

I DID search for a layout for Alf's modifications and found nothing.  I suppose I could just drill some new holes along the traces for the opamp feedback loop, but there's a lot of new stuff in there.  Has anyone done a layout for this thing?

Working on it ;) (it'll be a pcb though, I'm not good at veroboard or perfboard)

Great.  Let me know when you've finished if you don't mind.  A pdf would be great!

I really like that compressor idea.  I'll have to give it a try
