Hi.
I've just finished building a Rodent Distortion Pedal from 'GGG' This is only my second build and I don't have any electronics experience, so as you might of guessed by now it doesn't work!
I get sound when the pedal is switched off, but nothing at all when the pedal is turned on. Also the IC gets slightly warm.

The only change I've made is to leave out the mains supply plug (runs on battery only).

The PCB is home made and I have checked it thoroughly along with all the wiring.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Below are some pics if they help.

Build an audio probe and trace your circuit.
If you don't know what an audio probe is, do a search in this forum, more than enough helpfull topics.

This thing will allow you to check every connection to see if it has a signal flowing through it, if not than you've found your error.

Hi all

'bass_econo' Please excuse my ignorance and I know it's sad, but I don't know what 'pinouts' or 'fets' are??

'jeroen_verbeeck'  I have made an audio probe and tested the circuit. Starting from the input I got sound only as far as the first resister.
I have tried to mark the points on my circuit photos above.

The resister the sound stops at should be a (1M) I have used a Brown, Black, Black, Yellow and Brown striped resister, can someone please tell me if this is correct.

Thanks for your help

Thanks 'Traintrack' thats a really helpful link.

I now know the guy at Maplins gave me some wrong resisters (multiplier bands are wrong).
