Flatline too subtle

I just got my flatline working it does not seem to sustain much at all. I just   A/B'd it with my old Dyna Comp and the Dyna has much more sustain. Can I mod something in the flatline to get more sustain or squish? Or perhaps have I done something wrong and my build is not funtioning correctly.
I did the Vere board layout found here      http://aronnelson.com/gallery/bcreekmur/flatline_compressor

Two thoughts:
Make sure that the 10k resistor with the 100k Sustain pot are actually 10k and 100k respectively.  Verify with a multimeter that from op amp (-) to ground is not ever more than 110k as you crank the pot.

Secondly, measure your LDR resistance in full-dark mode.  Is it much less than 500k?  This may be a problem.  Measure it fully illuminated.  Is it much more than 10k?  This may be a problem.

Finally, if all seems correct according to the above, you can make it sustain more by removing that 220k resistor (in parallel with the LDR).  It may distort a little more on the attack...but what's new?

...or if you get an LDR that goes down close to 1k, you can change the 10k in series with the sustain pot to 1k.

The main thing is to have an LDR that changes by a large amount between dark and light.  Something that changes from 10k to 1Meg would be great.  I have purchased some from the RadioShack mix pack that meet this criteria (though you have to do your own optoisolator assembly with the LED...)
