Anyone ever look at the Ibanez DE-7 Delay/Echo pedal?

The DE-7 is part of the Tone-Lok series and offers 2600ms of delay. I was wondering if anyone has looked into how it can get that much delay. I start getting unwanted noises at around 400ms - 600ms using a PT2399 chip.

For one, it doesn't use a PT2399 :)

With the right DAC and controller, you can cram as much RAM in there as practically possible (cost and space wise, and depending on how much the controller can actually use) and you can get 2.6s or more of delay, easily.  The PT2399 makes it easy to create a delay since it has all the digital stuff and RAM in one chip.

I know what you're thinking, is there any cheap, easily available, currently produced, DIP packaged (non SMD), "all in one" kind of chip that will allow you to easily add more RAM to get more delay time?  Not that I know of.
