Hey RGL,

Here's a vero layout for both the 2-knob and 3-knob Tonebenders.  I think this was posted a while ago by Torchy, at least it looks like his handiwork, and I have no idea if it has been verified or not.  The circuit isn't too hard so it should be pretty easy to troubleshoot if it doesn't work right off the bat...

Save the picture. Then use a photo editor to resize it to about 25%. You'll need to convert it to a BMP to do so without distortion. And yes, you should use links only for GGG's material out of respect.

Rather then resize the image in a pic editor i always resize the image in the printing process.
In a lot of editors including photoshop (use print options), paint shop pro & ms paint (use page setup) the output to the printer can be resized
i.e. change to 25% in the case of the images from GGG.
Why? because it will print at a higher resolution - prints more dots per inch producing a much clearer image. It prints as many dots in the image printed at 25% as it would at 100%.
So if you resize the image first then print it at 100% it will print at only 1/4 of the resolution (dots per inch) it won't be as clear.

So if I were to take this to a print shop, I'm guessing it would be best to leave it full size, and then have it be scaled down by them, right?  I don't have a laser printer, so I was going to take it to Kinko's.

Yes, but make sure they don't resize the image before printing, get them to print it at 25%.

Its simple you use a link.

One it states  "premission refused for posting......" at the bottom

Two it does not expand the screen on the PC beyond the edges

I could just as easily have linked Torchy's layout as well but I didn't.  I don't think using the image tags on this board is wrong at all as long as you understand image sizes and screen widths.  I surf on a 12" G4 laptop so I've got less screen real estate than most and I HATE having to scroll over to read stuff.  I do however like seeing some good eye candy now and then and if you're posting something that someone may print and use, I think you have an obligation to give it to them at the best resolution possible.  There's a toss up between images and links for me:  if it's too big link it, if not post the image if you want.

As for "permission refused..." disclaimers, well, we should honor them out of respect for the author and their IP, of course.  Having said that, I think there's a big difference between posting a single pcb layout on this forum for someone's edification and hosting a "schematic farm" like Schematic Heaven.  I think the latter is what the disclaimer is really intended to discourage (although I know that Schematic Heaven gets permission for posting his items--at least that's what I've heard, it was just an easy example).

This was all my long-winded way of saying yeah, he should have linked it but to me it's not that big of a deal in the context of this forum.  Now he knows...

Bandwidth is a big deal.

J.D. has asked that his graphics not be embedded in other web sites. Linking is fine and propper but you should not embed his images in another page.

We get lots of hits here. The bandwidth required to display pictures can knock a free site off the net within minutes.

This is very true and something that I hadn't really thought about because I usually post images from my own server only.  Great point Peter.  I don't think anyone wants to "Slashdot" JD!
