I'm guessing the tread will fit over it, or something?

What do you mean by "tread"? What I had to do to my pedal is enlarge the area where the pot body sits. The dual pot I used was a little bit longer than the opening in the casting was. I had to do some filing on the enclosure to make enough room for it.

The crybaby I have uses some sort of interlocking tread system to turn the pot. I think it's pretty standard in Crybabys. Does the treading part come off of the hotpotz pot and fit over another one? I suppose I could just go try it...

Anyway, I'm struggling to get the wah to sound right for me. It seems to lose volume no matter what I do. I reduced the input resistor to 39k, I dropped the emitter resistor a bit, too. Don't remember exactly. What are the limits for pushing these two values to make this thing get louder?

Also, I changed the filter cap to a .068 as was recommended. I find that it gets pretty damn inaudible when the wah is in heel position. The bass is really suffering. I tried to boost the gain to fix this, but I think I need to go a little more. I changed input and output caps to 10uf, as well. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

Oh, you are referring to the rack & pinion gear. You can buy those. Sometimes you have to create a flat spot on the pot control shaft to use the gear.

Anyhow, www.tubesandmore.com sells them. I bought some from them before for my scratchbuilt wah projects.

shows how I modded one of my shells to use a standard Alpha pot. Some of the ideas might be useful.
