Hi guys,
I just built the Silicon Fuzz from the layouts gallery. Can I change anything to make it louder?

Here´s the layout:

I´m a bit of a newbie so it would be easiest for me if you try to imagine your explaining it to a five year old ;).

Thanks a lot Jörgen

I'd check the bias, via voltage differences between ground and the transistors pins. I suspect there is an issue causeing low output that requires debugging before mods should be tried...ie the Si FF shouldhave LOTS of output.

Check your pots and your wiring.  That thing should be rip your head off loud.

Hi again!

So, after a bit of debugging my silicon fuzz is up and running. Sounds absolutely ace!
Only thing is I can´t get any fuzz until 3/4 up on the fuzz knob.
What´s up with that?

Thanks, Jörgen

You might try a 1k rev log pot if you havent already.  They spread the fuzz out better over the pot's range.

I used to use a 4k7 "linear" pot with a 4k7 resistor across pot logs 1 & 3 giving about
a 2k3 pot, on a few of my FF builds.
Linear will bring the "Fuzz" on much earlier than a "log" pot.
The 1k C "reverse log" pots are available from steve at smallbear   www.smallbearelec.com
and are well worth using on FF's  :D
