Hi All,

I'm looking at buying software to help design / learn circuits.

Could anyone recommend anything to consider (or even avoid!) - I'm looking at 'Livewire' and wondering how this compares to anything you folks may have used in the past.

An added feature would be the ability to print PCB layouts if at all possible.

There are several circuit simulation packages available freely (Eg LTSpice). Also, the same goes for PCB design/printing. I'd say give the Eagle pcb package a shot. There are many tutorials available for Eagle. Have a look at gausmarkov's site.

+1 on Eagle and a definate thumbs up for gausmarkov's site if just for the librarys!!

There are a few nice tutorials on instructables.com they helped get me started. Its a steep learning curve but definately worth it.  LTSpice is meant to be worth a try I will admit to having never tried it (yet)
