Sounds like "Morphing" to me.... Digital domain only though - and not particularly original.
There is stuff like this in "Logic" so they may find Apple have something to say about it !!

and to top it off, were not a group of "inventors."

just a bunch of freaks with soldering irons for fingers, and power strips for arms.

not to mention the silver solder for hair.
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Those diagrams look a lot like Digitech HyperModeling Amp stuff from their multieffect pedals. The descriptions and flowcharts are spot on.

Extracted from the patent:

"A method for processing a musical signal, comprising: selecting at least two amplification simulation models; selecting at least two cabinet-speaker simulation models; warping between the amplification simulation models; warping between the cabinet-speaker simulation models; and producing one or more generated amplification simulation models and one or more generated cabinet-speaker simulation models"

So it looks like creating "hybrid" emulations, mixing parameters from 2 existing ones.

Yeah, in my searchings of the patent websites, the wording the "inventors" use is usually unbelievably arcane, general, or verbose.  :icon_rolleyes:

I gather this is related to some product under development, or under consideration for development, at Digitech.

Can't Digitech go back to making really good rack pitch shifters and harmonizers and dump this modeling nonsense?
Passive sucks.

When I think "modelling" I think "Line 6" or "Behringer"

You need to keep in mind that we now have a culture of "I want everything available all the time for peanuts"  Puny little porta-amps from Roland/Boss have models built in to mimic other amps, and even when the models are not digital, like the Peavey JSX amp, the Bogner and various MESA amps, one needs to stick in more than one approach to tone for a product to remain competitive.  As such, you can't really expect companies to NOT invest themselves into digital modelling, since it is clearly the cheapest way to provide all that "everything all the time" element.
