Hey guys, No this post is a bit belated but I came across the conversation about some of  'Penfold's' books and thought in case noone knows at least the one 'Music Projects'(mabye re-titled of one of the ones you guys are talking about ) IS available still in print. My wife just bought me this book for my birthday from WalMart.com of all places!! Don't know if that helps any of you in the UK , but it is a Maplin book which thru me at first of where she got it. It has probably 10 good stompbox projects. Lot using LM13700 , LF351, CA3140 Mosfet, etc.. with parts #'s I guess Maplin ?  But even the FUZZ Unit (normal and bass) AND Treble booster circuits are IC based! The Metal Pedal is in this one as well so I figured this is the same book as at least one that you all are talking about.
It's a little paperback and couldn't cost much..... oh just asked her , more than I thought . Looks like a little $7.95 book but was more like $20 with shipping all total
I very much would like to try a few of the projects. Unfortnately as well as all IC stuff which many I don't have , you also have to build from Schem as well. there are a couple of strip/breadboard layouts but i think only for the couple miscellaneous hi fi equip projects
off head I think there's
Fuzz Unit
Bass Fuzz
Tremolo
Envelope controlled Tremolo (LOOKS VERY INTRIGUING INDEED!!)
and an alternative Tremolo ??
Metal Pedal
Accentuated Metronome
Treble Booster
dynamic Treble booster
a Chorus based I think off LF351 or 353?
Compressor
Wah (IC based as well)
and I believe an MNxxx bbd based Dual Tracking
why not just a bbd chorus w/ double tracking capabilities I don't know but this guy DOES thoroughly explain each of these circuits design and function well.
other stuff like Mic Pre , parametric EQ and Headphone amp too.
Hope it helps , anyone wants more detail on how to find the book please don't hesitate to message me.
I think I'll enjoy some perfboarding challenges from it!!1 :icon_biggrin:
See the man with the stage fright, just standing up there to give it all his might..
