Hi all.

I love the amps sims I build (dunno if it is the correct term btw) from ROG and else (Flipster / Dr. Boogey / Prof Tweed) now busy with a baby bass '59. I was wondering;

On all these pedals a "speaker sim" is there as a "dual low pass" filter. I guess this is needed to make the pedal, alone, sound like the amp. Does it still sound decent with this unit removed? Would it make a difference? (shame I have no pedal to try it on)...

There's almost always a roll of section at the end, which will be something like 2 X 15k resistors with
2n2 caps to ground off each - pre master volume and output.
Without these, you'd probably need a speaker sim to follow, or they'll be `"ultra bright" !

Good luck with the "59 BassBoy" it's one of mine :D

Are they also so ultra-bright when used as an OD pedal instead of an amp sim?

Yes, I tried a few without the extra roll off, direct to valve amp and they are all too bright, but
give it a try, you may like it ! ( not with a Fender amp though .... ouch !! )
