First post. New to building effetcs. Have a couple effects I want to try building.
I am on mouser, and am having trouble figuring out what parts I am supposed to be ordering. Basically, the capacitors, I am having a hard time with.

Some schematics I have say:

n = nf, right?
p = pf, right?
3n3 = 3.3 nf, yea?

on smallbear, I cant find any microfarads, uf, so is mf and uf the same on that site? I thought mf was megafarads or something and not microfarads.

So many options to choose from on mouser, I feel like I am not entirely sure what I should be ordering. Prices change drastically as well.
I am new to this, so please go easy on me not knowing alot. Just a hobby I want to get into.

yep yep yep yep.

MF would be mega farads... a unit that probably wouldn't be useful to a DIYer here, unless said DIYer wanted a power supply that could be unplugged and operational for a tour.  ;)

mF would actually be milli-farads... again, only really useful for power supply purposes, and even then pretty ridiculous.

p=pf
n=nf
3n3 = someones plan to keep units simpler. works with resistors to, as 4k7 = 4.7k

goodluck with your builds!

Yes, they are the same on that site. *microfarads* (mF, uF, and mfd all mean microfarad)

i think there was a tad sense of sarcasm in that post about powering a gig board for a tour... is that possible to build like a "rechargeable power source battery" i mean ofcourse it is... but is it feasible? say ur playing a gig and ur battery dies on a pedal u usually dont hook up to 9v... or say ur going wireless and u just want the bare minimum pedals.. then this little rechargeable box wouldnt have to have its own AC line.... thats an awesome idea if i do say so muh self :)

Go to http://www.digikey.com/ ,enter battery into the search field, click on the "items in stock" box and click "search again", select lead-acid (entry number 7), click on 12V and then "apply filters". You will get a list of lead-acid cells that when combined with a 9V regulator will power your full board for as long as you want.  :icon_biggrin:

...thats insane... now when im playing out and some girl has the undenyable urge to throw her underwear at me... and in the process someones beer spills on this thing and i die from electrocution... are you responsible? lol i need to make it beer proof... god knows in the history of rock gigging out too many pedals fall victom to the beer short death :(

have u actually tried that? is it like rechargable? once i was workin on this system with midi cables where everything was powered off the able.. the pedals, the emg pickups.. everything... itd be doable but just didnt seem worth modding every piece of equipment i had.. especially the good guitars lol :)
