NJM5532L is it the same as a 5218L? - YES!

I got a few 5218Ls and I compared the datasheets for both chips and I think they are a 1:1 replacement. Am I right? I am putting one in a Boss OS-2 that has a fried NJM5532.

Will I kill something? I don't want to fry these chips since I probably won't be putting an order in to Mouser until a couple of weeks from now.

Thanks!

5218 chips are commonly found in Boss pedals where a decent quality low-noise chip is called for.  As Steve notes, this should not pose any problem.

Well, I did it anyway and it works! The first 2 were really noisy (bad?) but the 3rd one fixed it.

So for the record, a 5218L will work/replace an NJM5532L

Thanks for the replies, guys! :D

Same pinout but not the same chip.  In most audio circuits it won't make a difference.

Same thing with a JRC4558D and a TL071 in DIP8 format.  Same pinout, different insides but will work the same in most circuits.
