FET buffer for bass wah

OK, I've build a normal wah with some mods and I use it on bass. Because the unit was not cutting enough through on my fuzz I wanted to add an output buffer and used the normal FET buffer (Fuzzcentral) and tried the MOSFET buffer on Homewrecker, but both don't work on bass. In the treble position I get a normal wah, but on the lower, bassier notes, I get a sound like my wah is cutting out and coming back on. Enlarging the caps don't work.

Small update:

I tried now a lot of different buffers (FET, MOSFET, IC) and none yet worked. All give the same result. Without the buffer my wah just sounds great.
