Anyone have any ideas what makes this thing tick.  I have a friend that wants me to build him something similar if possible.

My guess would be a minibooster and possibly a rangemaster type setup, but that seems too simple.

Any ideas?

The vintage side is like the Keeley Java Boost.

The modern side is two fet circuits in series, powered by a MAX1044 voltage doubler.

Keeley has published this info and the schematic at: http://www.musicianshotline.com/archive/monthly/pedal_power/0304.htm

Thank you soooo much!

I have searched and searched and searched..... and haven't been able to find anything about this pedal.  I originally thought it was a Java Boost, but they don't sound quite the same to me.  Since my friend didn't want the exact pedal, unless I found the schems of course, we've been looking into tons of different boosters to make our own version of it.  Not even close to the real thing.    I'm sure I'll get started on it this weekend.  Thanks once again.

Great site on how to use that voltage doubler... I can't read the circuit diagram though. I'm ooooooooooold. I e-mailed Robert, which is always a treat,  :), but he is a busy guy and I don't expect him to reply for a while. Still, I want to put in my Small Bear order. Can anyone shed some light on these component values? My friend uses a Time Machine Boost, but he also wants a teeny tiny (teentsy weentsy) version of the modern side so I am going to try to perf board it out for him as a gift.

There is a inside shot of the TM in the German Forum, to me it looks like a Java Boost with AC128K on 9V and a AMZ Mini Booster on 18V via MAX 1044. Some values on the Mini booster are altered to prevent it from sounding harsh or thin normally caused when running the MB on 18V.
