I am venturing out from just modding and am going to build a Shaka Express.  Is the PCB pattern on the PDF for the toner transfer really supposed to be that small?  If not is there a copy of the larger one that I could use?

Secondly, could someone identify what each pot controls so I can label them correctly on the box.  I have a couple of them figured out but am not an electronics guru.

Yes, that GEO PDF is the size that it actually is. It's a little tricky to drill the holes, but it can be done - I did it. To identify what each pot does, you need to compare the GEO PDF file http://www.geofex.com/FX_images/express.pdf to the PDF schematic http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/ShakaExpress.pdf - the components are labeled the same between the two documents.

Okay I got the Drive, Volume, Tone...But the "Bite" has both R18 and R19.  While R12 is unlabeled (could it be trim).

thanks

R18/R19 is a dual pot and is the "bite" control. I used a trimpot for R12.

Check out this thread for a little more info: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=24223.0

Trim pot sounds like the way to go for R12.  Pardon my ignorance but what  is a "dual pot"?

Last question...well maybe.  I read the thread and figured out C14, C15.  But never got what R22 value you used.  Also C13 has only one connection on the PCB layout where should the other leg connect?

It's two pots with one control shaft. It looks like this: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/143109.pdf

I don't remember exactly what I did for R22. You could use a 500K trimpot wired as a variable resistor there and experiment with different settings. I don't remember it changing the sound much. I think you could simply omit it you wanted to.

What about the connectors for C13 on the PCB?  I don't see it connected to anything.

I think that you are confusing the "mounting hole" with where C13 goes. C13 is diagonally just to the right of that...  :icon_wink:
