Is building a store-bought pedal exactly cloned ilegal?

For example if I bought a XXX brand pedal and built an exact clone of it for personal use...

IMHO - in short - yes, as long as you don't try to sell or pass off your copy as the original, and you are not selling someone else's intellectual property...

This has been talked about quite a bit in the past; try using the "search" function using the word "legal".

There is a lot of sides/views/laws that others have brought up that know the details... there's some great discussions of this via searching..
