How to check collector voltages with a DMM??

Found a million ways to check leakage, but I just bought a DMM and want to check collector voltages, like when you put a trimmer on the collector of the 2nd trannie in a FF and set the volts at 4.5V.

  Using the ground / 0v as reference, measure the voltage difference to the collector.
