I've got a couple extra 6 1/2 inch Alpine car stereo speakers lying around and tonight I decided to plug my Ruby into one to see how it'd sound. Well it sounded pretty decent considering (then again I bought the speakers for $100 each about 2 years ago...) but I was wondering about speaker loads I guess you'd call them. I run a pair of Celestion Rocket 50's on my main guitar amp and they're rated at 8 ohms each (2 speaker outputs on the amp). The Alpine I tried is a 4 ohmer, whats the difference? Is 4 better than 8 or vice-versa? Will I damage my Ruby or the speaker running it through a 4 ohm as opposed to an 8 ohm speaker?

I believe the LM386 is happy with anything thats 4ohms or more???

I found an old 2w PC speaker in the garage yesterday that I'm going to make into a ruby

with those low-power speakers it could be the problem because they distort really easy. And it sounds fuzzy. I've got two 5W speakers in series and above half volume on my LG2 it's very buzzy and distorted (and LG2 I made is 100% clean, nothing between pins 1 and 8)
