which one do you guys like better for modding and getting a tone similar to the orginal 250's?

btw- The YJM is on sale at MF right now for $40

One is just a mod of the other.  As near as I can tell there should be no difference in the actual board, so buy whichever is cheapest and have at it.

I decided to go with the 250 over the yjm. since they are both the same price right now. the 250 looks better anyway IMO

I wouldnt recommend modding either. I have and bought both and the tracks on those boards will lift really easy. I ended up building my own and placing it in the enclosure. Buy or etch your own. In fact, I remember opening my Ygm box and there was still some yellow paint from where it looked as though It my have been meant for a Dod-250.???

The traces shouldn't have lifted like that.  Sounds to me like something went a little askew with the desoldering.  Even the cheapest copper board should hold up reasonably well when the desoldering is efficient.  That being said, if Jimbob's comments, and your familiarity with your own soldering skills (or lack thereof), have made you a little anxious about modding commercial boards, get yourself some desoldering braid ("solder wick" as it is often called) and some liquid flux.  Apply a wee bit of liquid flux to the copper braid and that stuff will lift out all solder within a 1/4" radius quick as a wink with only minimum heat applied, and very little risk to the board.

I have the reissue 250 and love it.

The only mod I've done is to socket the op amp so I could play around with different ones. Currently I have a 1458 in it.

hopefully I dont have any problems. If I do I'll get the stuff you mentioned and try that out. My dad probably has both actually.
