LM555c question ( racedriver)

How do you incorporate the above into a perf board layout as it's very small and the pinouts are tiny and very close together, it doesn't look like its designed for a socket - is it easily damaged if soldered directly?

You probably have a 'SMD' 555 from the sound of it. You need to get a 'DIP' 555, which is a nice handleable size, and will fit in a 8-pin socket.
