GGG TS808 build only works with one particular battery???

I was testing out the pedal and it just didn't sound right, so I decided i'll change the battery. I changed it with a brand new one and nothing, I mean no effect at all. So I tried another one and the same thing happened. So I went back to the original battery i had in it and it worked. I've never experienced this before. Why do you guys think this is happening?

Tried those 'new' batteries in anything else yet?

Use a multimeter and check your batteries.
And it doesn't mean that if the voltage isn't 0 the battery isn't 'empty'.
Circuits need a certain amount of power to work, so if you find out the battery only has like 7 volts, it's normal that it doesn't work.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I tried the new batteries in a small clone i had here and they work. All the batteries i have work with the small clone but not with the TS.
