boss ps-2 MIJ - lo fi delay repeat mod - need help !!

hi guys-
i am thinking of putting in a small 0.01 or 0.05 [ or another 'accepted' value ] cap over the 1st pot on left [ effect level ] to try and get some nicer less 'plastic' delay repeats -
however - when i opened it it is very tight in there + the pot is kind of hard wired to the board -

would it be do able if i tacked the cap to the outside 2 lugs where they come out of the bottom of the board with a wee bit of solder?
or , there are three small holes on the bottom of pot assembly just along from where it is soldered to board-could i solder cap in these?
im a bit leery of this one as my soldering skills with such small items and tight spaces are not great and i dont want to screw up a good pedal.
at the moment ive just put it back together but if you have any advice/tips they are most welcome-
