i just built (tried to) the 'tweak'o from www.smallbearelec.com but it doesnt seem to work! all the soldering seems fine, and the components seem to be in coreect places, but there is no effect. also, there is no guitar sound unless the pedal is switched on! any suggestions?
cheers,
Rory

A few things to do:
- edit the topic title so people know what exactly you want to ask by reading the subject.
- the sticky thread "What to do when it doesn't work" will give you some hints.
Maybe reading the thread already helps you to solve the problem.
Otherwise it tells you what data to provide to enable people to give you hints on where to look for the problem.

Happy reading  ;)

If there is only sound when the thing is turned on, I would guess it has something to do with the offboard wiring.
What does the sound you get sound like?

I read the DMM book so I could get resistance, 'beep mode' continuity checker [diode setting], and voltage readings.
I attached a testclip to the black DMM wire, this is handy for testing all grounds, and for use of ground for reference for comparing [all] voltages [are] related to ground, and resistors resistances from ground.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

When you say 'switched on', what do you mean? As in, there's power and it always works, or it only works bypassed, or in only works non-bypassed?

Get a schematic of the pedal, and go over EVERY component with a DMM as pete moore said, and if you're happy, highlight or cross through it. You might find one or two problem areas, eg cold solder, so if in doubt , re solder.

Also check offboard, as said - with wires, check the bit just after the sodler connection, esp stranded, as sometimes it snaps without you knowing.

There's a heap of stuff online to help - dig in!
