Can my BOSS DS-1 be saved?

My Boss Ds-1 Distortion pedal has very low sound when I switch to distorted.
Clean it has plenty of volume.   I had a diode split in two in the D1 spot.
I put a new diode (1n4004) and that did nothing . It still does the same thing.
