pot values, resistor values...what the heck?!

ive been thinking about this,i havent done it yet...

but if im putting a 100k pot in place of a...say, 570 k ohm resistor...does it work?

my mind says no, and i cant figure out why not.

help!

The result depends on the rest of the circuit. There is no yes/no answer.

i guess it would work. but i would use a 470K pot in series with an 100K resistor.
