how do you keep your battery in place?

Hey, I've got one of those flimsy 9 volt battery sockets with the wires coming out from the plastic sleeve. Am I ok to glue that to the box or do i need something stronger to keep the battery in place?

I glue one of those metal battery clips to the case. Small Bear has them.

I do as Zvex does. You too should do as Zvex does.

Use some rubbery battery sized foam and sandwich the battery standing on one side. You'll see that it's just a few millemeters short of the enclosure.. (B or BB) with the lid screwed on.

You can have it anywhere you want like this, the pressure of the lid against battery against foam works just fine.

Or you can make just enough space behind the 3pdt to sit it.

Or you can buy a battery clip or drawer from the worthy Mr Daniels of Smallbear.

honestly, i dont use batteries...but in the wahs im building, theyre just "housed" by the typical foam and pressure applied by the plate.

if you can, wedge it between the foot switch and a wall at hte base. that's what mxr used to do and it's what i do. the battery won't be able to move.

This is how I do it when it needs to be bomb-proof:

The foam is originally used to ship heavy equipment, in my case a guitar amp...
In other cases it's between the 3PDT and the enclosure like metioned before.

If you think a little about where you put your jacks, stomp switches etc.  Or how you cut your PCB's you can get the 9v to stay put...



and here's a little headphone amp I made.  The battery sits snugly between the jack, the boards, and the side of the box...
