Just wondering which of these two designs are best. People seem to have built both in equal numbers and with equal opinion according to historical threads. What are the know advantages / disadvantages?
From the sound clips Ive heard the tube-driver seems to be best, but the clips are very few and very different.
Cheers all, RD205

the designs are very similar (I refer to the 4-knob tube driver when I say this).

If you are confident with modifying circuits Shaka Tube is best, you can tweak it to get the sound you want (well that's my experience with my particular amp).

If you want something that probably sounds good without any mods maybe do the 4-knob tube driver, because the separate treble and bass controls offer more tonal flexibility with your particular rig.

But the 4-knob version at GGG claims noise issues?

Doug_H

Which tube driver are we talking about?

RaceDriver205

Well theres the Musizique.com 3-knob version, which I have heard good sound samples of. There is also a 4-knob version at GGG but it has a warning about noise.
I dont have a clue what to build!

Aight im just going to go with the 3-knob musizque.com version, coz its power config is much better. Ill post a layout when its done.

If I remember, not too far back, someone made a Tube Driver without the noise problems. Have a search.

RaceDriver205

Dont worry, Roob, Ive had a vigorous and exhaustive search. The 3-knob version sounded noiseless and awesome.
