Box causing some problems - help please

I've ran into a weird problem, and would like to know if anyone where might know how to help me.

I've just built a circuit, and it works great...until i put the bottom lid on the hammond enclousure.  Once i unscrew the lid, it works perfect.  It seems like it is shorting the power (the led doesnt come on when the lid is on)...but i don't see how.  I'm powering it with a plastic boss style plug.

Any insight?
