Hi fellas,

I've just finished the tremulus Lune using Torchy's excellent vero layout (thanks Torchy):

I used a 3mm red LED and some unknown LDR for the LFO part while I'm waiting for a VTLC52 to arrive.  The effect worked first time so I'm happy.  However the fine and smooth controls don't appear to do much.  I don't know if this is a problem with my build or if they are very subtle controls.  What is the function of these controls?
Also, I have not attached the switch (S1) or LED yet.  What is the function of these, do they just show you the rate of the effect?

Seljer

The fine control is just for fine tuning the speed if you would ever need to.

The smooth control mixes in the rather triangle wave of the LFO into a more choppy square one.

Torchy

I actually lrft off the Fine control on my trem.

IME the Smooth control effectiveness varies according to the reaction time of the ldr. I woukd really recommend a vactrol with the Lune - I havent got good results with home-made, even the ones that work fine on the Easyvibe.

Thanks fellas, I'll wait until my vactrol arrives before diddling about with it.

What about the switch/LED?

Torchy

If you check the commonsound schematic, the switch is on the rate LED. This lets you use the rate LED as a status indicator by wiring to the 3pdt footswitch.

Ah, so this LED acts as an off/on indicator as well as the rate indicator?  On this diagram below does the middle right lug go to S1 on the vero layout?  Also, if this is the case then on the diagram below, S1 lug2 of the switch (i.e. the middle lug??) goes to the LED cathode and then the LED anode goes to the board.  On the vero layout it says S1 lug2 goes to the LED cathode.  Is this not the opposite to the commonsound diagram?

I've stared at these diagrams for the last 45 mins and I'm getting more confused.

With this 3PDT wiring is the effect still true bypass?

Torchy

In the vero layout I specified this schematic -

The LED and switch goes from U2A pins 1&2 and the 1K to Ground.

I have a tremulus lune question of my own... hehe

I can find both of those ICs in Jaycar, but unfortunately they are the 14 pin types, not the 8 pin. Is there a way to make that work?

Is that a plastic washing basket?

Jaycar sells both of them:

LM4558 Dual High Performance Op-AmpLinear IC, CAT. NO. ZL3958
TL072/LF353 Dual Low Noise JFET Op-Amp Linear IC, CAT. NO. ZL3072
Blood, Sweat & Flux. Pedals made with lasers and real wires!

Hmmm ... I have used the normal rectangular red LED Jaycar sells, paired with the 'big expensive' LDR they sell, to make a good sounding tremulus lune ..... in fact, I've never used an off-the-shelf optocoupler for any of the numerous 'lune builds I've done.
