I find the leakage to of 500uv do be not to bad for a fuzz........sometimes maybe a bit more.

Now RG says noise could be a problem I dont run into this with the AC128 is leakage that critical or what do others tend to say GOOD...

I have been using many with a higher leakage than RG likes and they work good ???

This is a dead horse talking of germanium transistors I know....but I cant stop enjoying the sag and sustain of a good fuzz :icon_redface:

My opinions are just that - opinions. If you find that you can use 500uA leakage germaniums and you like the sound, that's GREAT!

Leakage is an imperfection, and high leakage is an indicator that other things might be wrong. Leakage TENDS to be associated with noise, because one of the leakage mechanisms creates a lot of noise. There are other leakage mechanisms that do not create as much noise.

But in the end, there is nothing except the sound. If you are getting good results with higher leakage transistors, there is no other consideration to be made. There can be no disagreement about matters of taste.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
