Hi y'all,
Just added the verified layout for the 1977 OD250 in my gallery,
Please give it a look if you're interested. It is verified and up & runnin'!
I really, really LIKE when that happens   ;D
It is kind of a tight build but, it's the challenge for us isn't it? :icon_lol:

yeah, I would too like to know how you like it?

According to the layout there is 2 1n4001's. I thought they used 1n914's? Great job though!

It is my understanding that the later model of the 250 used 1N914, the early version which this layout attempt to re-create used 1N4001's.
I used the info provided by jhs in this post;

How do you like the sound?

The sound is quite different than the regular OD250 we all know and love.
It is alot more mid-heavy than the later version + it is gritty through the whole rotation of the gain control.
It still sounds like an OD250 but, more mid-rangey and a bit more raw but compressed.
I don't how much I like it or not as I have only played around with a it very little and, the jury is still out.

Great, another one to add to the list!!!!! Thanks again for the layout, looks great and this Grey 250 layout and build will probably be around a long time (for good reason). I'm a sucker for the 250 so I guess I'll start gathering the parts tomorrow..

I'm liking the sound of this ( vero built from Marks layout ) very much !
I had almost all the required parts, but no 0.05 ceramics ! ( dont use 'em much )
I tried the 2x 1N4001 but prefer "assym" clipping as a rule so swopped one for a
small rectifier diode, about half the size of a 4001 but "fatter" ( BYD74 )
Jeff Musser sent me some of them - thanks :D

It's a nice "Gnarly" overdrive and quite smooth/warm sounding, I need a better
gain pot, as I only had a 1M log, reverse log would work best I think, so I have a
lot of almost "clean" area with OD at around 75% travel.
My 50k log volume pot works fine.
Great, cheers Mark !

Hey, thanks so much Marty!
An interesting note here is if you read through the "gut-shot" post, JHS used 1N4002 diodes in his build and stated that they sounded more "musical".
May be a good thing to try too!

I added a Perf version of this to my layouts gallery.
I hope this is helpful to some of you.

Can you make a vero layout??  ;)

markm

I'm not really a user of vero but, I'll see what I can do for ya.
