random radio in a pedal (a tip for you)

If you want a pedal to pick up random radio i have a good solution. you take the noise circuit from RG's telephone/radio/lofi pedal (as you can find on geofex.com). this gets you noise and perhaps some radio sounds in the background.

i used 2N2222A transistors for this circuit and soldered an antenna (actually i use a switch to connect the case of the pedal to this point as an antenna, otherwise it's grounded) to the collector lug on the case, not the collector itself but the tab that indicates what side the collector is. now the radio signal it picks up is much louder than the other noise of the circuit. and if you connect a series resistor (or trimpot) between the antenna and the transistor case you can control the volume of the radio signal (not the other noise).

have some fun with this ;)

Cool.  I had a friend a while back that wanted me to build in a footswitch on a fuzz that would allow him to pick up radio banter (he was in a really experimental group, and I guess he wanted it for quiet parts and breaks and whatnot) but all I could get it to pick up was hiss.

yeah whatta fun!!!
please can u try post a layout for a newinelectronicsboy really interested
thank u

take a look at the schematic on geofex. for that part only you really don't need me to make a lay-out. you can even use the schematic as a lay-out.

sorry but you mean the one named a low-fidelity/telephone/noise pedal???
if so i haven't understand well how you soldered the antenna can you try to explane to this lazy guy??
thanku

If you don't understand what he's talking about, I don't know that it's a good idea to try to build it anyway.  this isn't a good hobby for lazy folks...there's tons of information on this site and all over the net if you want to invest the time and learn, the search function is especially useful.

ah
im in diy from a long time ....i was only joking ...
just trying to understand it because i think is a really interesting idea
kindness is a good idea :icon_lol:

It took me reading it twice to figure out that he has soldiered the "antenta" which is a wire to the case.... to the transitor it's self... Well at least to the metal tab on top of the transitor.

birt

that's it. the tab on the case of the transistor. that's why i said i used a metal can 2N2222A.

Tone machines make a good radio, just touch a transistor and listen to the sports channel!
You could spdt an antenna on it probably if ya really wanted to.
