What puzzles me is his quite high feedback rate, it was 98 something percent.

Ebay feedback is now useless. Nobody ever leaves bad feedback in fear of retaliation. And half of the feedback is bogus (buy my picture for $1 and I will leave you positive feedback).

>> Yeah ... well, you can't go too far wrong with BBDs!

>Actually you can - a while back some folks got a bunch of fake ones.  Supposedly 4096 stage MN3005s, but really 2048 stage chips.  Can't remember the seller or circumstance, but a search of the archives should bring it up.<

Yup, not only that there are some BBDs which really suck... I had a batch of MN3007 chips that look OK but are not the real thing and fail all the time. Not sure what they really are...

So, 98 percent in that case is pretty bad, isn't it?

No, it just doesn't tell the true story of a seller's trustworthiness.  That, and making your feedback private throws up all kinds of red flags.

Can you say if you got them from hongkongsuperseller?  I noticed that he goes to extra lengths now to demonstrate his parts are authentic, showing the "bulk" box he bought them in.

Just happened to me, got some "MN3205" chips but they are actually 3208  chips and lousy ones at that :(

QuoteIf you want good parts, order from known businesses like SmallBear, Mouser, and DigiKey

I agree with that.

What puuzled me far more today is that over time there were more or less 2 sources for this stuff in larger quantities: Honkongsuperseller and chipforbrains. Today I saw the auctions of the latter presented in such a way that I thought it was hongkongsuperseller. Also, I thought that chipforbrains was US based but, though registered in the US, he seems to be located in Hongkong now.
More stuff, less fear, less  hassle and less censoring? How 'bout it??. To discuss what YOU want to discuss instead of what others decide for you. It's possible...

But not at diystompboxes.com...... regrettably

I don't know about now but, a little while back, chipforbrains had his feedback hidden.
Wonder Why??!
I have been tempted to buy from these guys but, have resisted the temptation by using Small Bear for my component FIX!

I've bought things from both of these sellers (typically stuff that Steve doesn't sell) and I've had no problems with either.

I think I've bought two different items from hongkongsuperseller. Both of them were fine and were just as advertised.
