mxr phase 90 problem

i just bought a used mxr phase 90 and i know yea it was used so I'm probably getting myself into someone Else's problem but i took it home plugged it in and stomped it led turned on and sounded great and i was happy then i took it to college plugged it in and clicked it on i got alot of hum and a dim led.  now the led wont light at all and i don't get anything out of it this just happend out of nowhere. any ideas other then throwing it in the garbage? ???

Well is the battery ok?  And dont throw it away, someone on her *cough*ME*cough* will take it off your hands to use in a way.  But yea.  Contact the guy you bought from.

  Sounds a little like it could be a short in the PS.
  ..or something else.
  Does the battery get hot?
  IF not...I fixed my DIY Ph90 yesterday, it was intermittent like that, no LED on it, but I had a short...somewhere under the very hard to get to bottom of the board..a little block stuffed in there [I know...lazy...cheep...but Good!], relieved stress a bit and allows normal operation, also I found an input wire to the jack was touching the right lug, but needed re-soldered.

i don't think the battery gets hot but i haven't opened the case and plugged it in so I'm not positive i put power to it and the led was very dim then i unplugged it and used only the battery and the led was almost as bright as during "normal" operation  but now it doesn't even do that. so id have to open it up plug it in see if the battery gets hot
