hey guys.  i have had one of those tube MP mic pres from art for years now.  it isn't too bad, once you get a reasonable tube in it.  i like vintage 12au7's in it...

at any rate, i remember hearing about several cap replacements, etc that were supposed to supe these things up.  when i read about them i was not doing any of this DIY stuff, so i didn't pay much attention.

now i can't remember where i read about them.

i imagine changing outthe tl072 chips would be an obvious start.  any suggestions about what to replace them with?

any other thoughts?

these units aren't bad, but i imagine that they used some skimpy parts...

I am getting one of the project series for the Crate VC508 amp I hear it is good in the effects loop to help saturate the power tube...How does it sound for guitar?? For an amp??

Sorry I didnt answer your question but lets see if it omes around....

i prety much use it for my wife's vocals in the studio.  works well for that after a tube change and decent power adapter.

may juice up an amp in the effects loop or as a boost.  or just to add some warmth.
